UNLV Athletics launches new branding campaign
With the beginning of the 2012-13 collegiate athletic seasons right around the corner, UNLV Athletics has launched a new department-wide branding campaign, “Scarlet. Gray. Every Day.”
“UNLV is the heart and soul of Las Vegas and this campaign was built to reflect that,” said Jim Livengood, Director of Athletics for UNLV. “We not only wanted to celebrate our programs and our student-athletes, we wanted to celebrate all of those in the community - and throughout the world - who make UNLV so special. This campaign is about our alums, our students, our faculty and staff and, of course, our incredible fans. Just like our teams, those individuals in all walks of life are representing the Rebels on a daily basis and we are cheering for them.”
While taking pride in the university’s longtime official colors - scarlet and gray - initial messaging for the all-sports campaign celebrates the nature of being a local Rebel in a world-famous city known for glitz and glamour.
The message reads:
People think they know Las Vegas. But they won’t know this town until they’ve seen it through the eyes of a Rebel.
Only then will they understand this city’s heart. Only then will they feel Vegas’ soul.
This city, where the world comes to play, is the same place where those of us living the Scarlet & Gray go to work every day to earn everything we have.
And that’s just the way we like it.
Because we are Rebels. And Las Vegas is our town.

“It’s a great time to be a Rebel,” Livengood said. “It’s a great time to wear the scarlet and gray of UNLV and be proud to call this `my’ school and to call these teams `my’ teams.”
